Prove it…. Friday night, July 10th at 6:30, High School Students will meet at the Skinner house to find out. You need to bring $2 bucks for pizza, a boat load of your friends, and if you have one, a digital camera. We will be traveling throughout the evening, so I do have a permission/release form that will need to be signed by your parents(not you), your parents before we leave.

Gonna be a fun night….make sure to bring somebody with you!

PASSION FRUIT BIBLE STUDY

 JULY 7TH @ SILVER COMET TRAIL

 Alright guys…. this coming Tuesday night, we will be meeting at the Chamber of Commerce trail head to hand out water bottles. Please wear your Livewire Student Ministry T-shirts and bring a 12 pack of bottled water to hand out. Go ahead and have it chilled also. We will meet in the back parking lot at 7:00.

Bible Study / Pool Party

June 23rd & 24th

Guys….Tonight was AWESOME!!! We had 15 students at Bible study tonight…Thanks to all who came out and brought friends! Tuesday night for the Middle School study, we had 6 and 3 were first timers….awesome! I gotta be honest….I am some kinda sore! 2 days in a row of nerf football in the pool tends to take just a little bit out of me, but it has been definitely worth it!.

Our Fruit this week was Peace….from all the commotion, I am sure that the neighbors thought the evening was anything but peaceful. I asked the question, “what does peace mean to you?” There were many different answers as would be expected.

The Peace that I thought about is found in Luke chapter 8, when Jesus calmed the storm. He and His Disciples were on a ship when a storm came up and endangered everyone on-board. The disciples cried out to Jesus saying, “Master, we are going to drown!” Jesus stepped up and spoke to the raging storm and immediately, the waves ceased and the winds were calm….There was peace.

How many times in our lives do we find ourselves in the middle of a storm, feeling as if we are about to go under? I can tell of time after time when I have been in one of those storms, either by my own creation or from circumstances totally out of my control. And while I haven’t always come through those storms as easily as I might have hoped for, knowing that my Lord, Jesus Christ, was with me no matter what, I still had His peace. Many times there were consequences of that “Trial” that had to be dealt with. There were emotional wounds that took time to heal, but there was always peace…peace in knowing that I was never alone.  

I want my children to know that they can always come to me if something is wrong. I want to be able to put my arms around them and to make them feel safe and secure…that’s what a father wants to be able to give to his children. It’s no different with God the Father. He wants us to run to Him when we need to feel safe…run to Him when we feel like we have nowhere else to run to. He wants to give us peace. Look again at the scripture that we looked at:

Psalms 4:8

“I will lay down and sleep in peace, for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in saftey”

Psalms 29:11

“The Lord gives strength to His people; The Lord blesses His people with peace.”

Psalms 119:165

“Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.”

John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Did you catch that? “I do not give to you as the world gives.” The world gives us plenty to worry about.

Praise God that we have a loving Father who wants to open his arms wide when He sees us running to Him, and then wrap them tight around us…making us feel safe and secure and giving us peace.

Tuesday and Wednesday were great…. you guys are awesome!

Passion Fruit Bible Study June 23rd and 24th

Check it out….This week, Middle School will be meeting at the Skinner home for Bible study/pool party on Tuesday 6/23 from 7-9 p.m. Bring a snack, a boat load of friends and modest swim wear. High School will be meeting on Wednesday night, 6/24…. same deal….snack….friends…..modest swimwear.

This week our fruit is peace…..can you dig it?

Bingo night at Legacy Assisted Living

WOW…..What a blessing! We had a great time tonight playing Bingo with some of the residents at Legacy Assisted Living center. We met some awesome folks like Miss Pat, “Outback Betty” (she’s from Austrailia and I gave her that name myself so….yeah), and Uncle Remus, (again…another name I came up with because this gentleman told story after story!) He has been an usher for the New York Giants, Brooklyn Dodgers and also the New York Yankees when Yogi Berra played! It was awesome to just listen to him tell his stories and see him relish in his “glory days”.

Guys….if you missed it, you really missed a blessing! We have an open invitation to come back and I think the overall vote of the students that went tonight, want to definitely go back. Our fruit for this week was joy. I think that I speak for the entire group when I say that this group of “seniors” showed the essence of that fruit. Laughing and enjoying each others company and just sharing of themselves. They had never met us before, yet they took us into their fold and for an hour, made us a part of their family. If we could only show the joy of the Lord as openly as these folks showed their joy of life!

There are so many things in our life today that can bring us down. Situations at school, relationships at home, families struggling financially and just the overall condition of the world in which we live. The last part of Nehemiah 8:10 says “…do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” What does that mean? Does that simple statement make all of our problems disappear? No, but what it does for me, and for many Christians, is give me hope. Knowing that I am part of the family of God, that I have been redeemed from my sins by his unselfish act of love on the cross, it does make it a little lighter. I can rejoice and be optimistic knowing that I have an all powerful Savior on my side. I can know that no matter what this world throws at me, My God is right there with me…He’s “got my back” so to speak. Knowing this also SHOULD affect my attitude towards others. I mean…when you have something special in your life, do you not share it with others? Does it not affect how you act and speak , your overall attitude? Look at any wedding or graduation picture and the participants are grinning ear to ear. Their joy is obvious.

I want that Joy in my life. I don’t want anyone I come in contact with to have to wonder if I am a Christian or not. If I stop for a minute and think of all that God has done for me and all that he has planned for me, the joy of Christ should be oozing out of me…that’s right, I said oozing! I hope that you have that Joy and if not, it’s my prayer that you find it.

Man……BINGO ROCKS!!!!!
